Randolph Bourne famously said "War is the health of the state." He easily could have said, War is the Bringer of Tyranny. We often hear that War and Military interventions is what protects us from Tyranny. But if you look at the blow-back both in terms of enemy combatants AND in terms of the loss of our domestic liberties that are sacrificed both to fight the wars and with the traveling back home of practices learned overseas to keep populations under military control. War, what is it good for, absolutely nothing -- is perhaps an even more poignant phrase than Bourne's famous words.
