In the 1980s, Don Lavoie received a signed autograph photo from F. A. Hayek informing him that he was the first recipient of the "Hayek Prize" for the slaying of arguments for socialism.
Don was such an effective critique of socialist planning because he had sympathies with their aspirations, but was an economist so he understood the full implications of the inability of socialist planners to engage in rational economic calculation.
It is so refreshing to see both his works now back in print and in paperback form. They are required reading for all students of political economy.
