In the summer of 1974, the Institute for Humane Studies worked with Israel Kirzner, Murray Rothbard, and Ed Dolan to organize a conference intended to gather junior faculty and graduate students interested in advancing a rejuvinated Austrian Economics within the contemporary professional/academic landscape. Many of the attendees went on to become significant contributors to economics and political economy. The lectures from that first conference were edited by Dolan and published as The Foundations of Modern Austrian Economics.
Since that first summer seminar, the Advanced Austrian Economics Seminar has been held in cooperation with IHS, independently by the Austrian Economics Program at NYU, and for the last several years by the Foundation for Economic Education. The one constant through the years has been the lectures by the leading living representative of the modern Austrian School of Economics --- Israel M. Kirzner. Starting on Monday July 30th, the 2012 edition of the Advanced Austrian Economics Summer Seminar will commence. Kirzner will once again will highlight the week.
The 3rd volume of Kirzner's Collected Works has been just recently published by Liberty Fund.
