What you think about Mises' reflections about family in "Socialism"? (http://mises.org/books/socialism/part1_ch4.aspx).

Could it be possible to think that the challenging question you've mentioned ("Western civilization needs families as norms transmitter -the question is whethe multiple forms are able to do so") would require a fresh look to the relation between nature and practical reason regarding family as a social institution?
