The Society for the Development of Austrian Economics is pleased to announce the winners of the first Carl Menger Essay Contest for undergraduate students. Daniel D’Amico, Emily Skarbek, and Diana Thomas were this year’s judges. All entries were anonymous. Each prize is worth $1000 to attend and present at the Southern Economic Association meetings at the Atlanta Sheraton in November. The prizes will be presented at the Society’s annual dinner on Saturday, November 20. A panel featuring the winning papers will take place on Sunday, November 21 at 4:15 PM.
This year’s winners are:

The Prize Committee would also like to extend its sincerest thanks to all the entrants. There were some exceptional essays that were not selected. Congratulations to the winners! We will see you in Atlanta.
Congratulations to all. Are the papers available for distribution?

Thanks to everyone that helped advertise the contest and/or cajoled their students into entering! We got a total of 13 entries, which we are most pleased with for our first year.
