Steven Horwitz
In the spirit of James Taranto's wonderful "Life Imitates The Onion" entries at the WSJ's Best of the Web:
Believing this bill will somehow improve health care is the political equivalent of the South Park underpants gnomes.
Phase 1: pass bill.
Phase 2: ????
Phase 3: health care improves.
Magical thinking is alive and well in DC.
Do you think Congress actually thinks this bill will work? I'm of the opinion they don't. It seems they will even more greatly enjoy revising and extending the government intrusion in healthcare. When was the last time poorly-functioning government was eliminated or decreased in size?
The complete failure of this bill would simply allow them to do more than they could before.

I was thinking of the episode where the choice in voting was between a douche (Senate Bill) and a turd sandwich (House Bill).
