As many of you know, I consider NJ to be the greatest state in the US. It has everything geographically and culturally anyone could want, and the people of NJ are great. This is where I truly feel at home, because, well, it is my home even after living in NoVA for 15 of my 48 years. As I tell anyone, if I could teach at any university it would be at Oxford provided it was on the NJ shore. (Speaking of which didn't Bruce set a new standard for Super Bowl half-time shows?! -- see what I mean about NJ)
This moring I received this from my best friend growing up --- it is an op-ed he wrote for the Asbury Park Press. As he says, bigger government and higher taxes just isn't working.
Sad, but true. Nevertheless, I share your love for the Garden State.

But can I pump my own gas in NJ?
And, yes, The Boss did set a new standard.

As my mom always said, NJ... God's country :)

Sorry guys, the standard is Prince during the Colts-Bears game a couple years ago. The Boss is second, and a distant second at that.

Agreed on NJ - imagine what a paradise it could be if it weren't one of the most heavily taxed/regulated states in the union!

Speaking of Bruce, didn't he say this about a town in "the greatest statein the US" - "Baby this town rips the bones from your back, It's a death trap, its a suicide rap, We gotta get out while were young."

18 years in Essex County, 4 more in Middlesex (New Brunswick) and then I got out.
I fled New Jersey and I don't think I'll ever return.
What's great about New Jersey is a diversity of terrain in close proximity to one another.
But stupid, utterly idiotic land policies have turned the place into Sprawlsville.
New Jersey proves it only takes one boneheaded Supreme Court decision to ruin a state.
I also don't know what you mean by saying the people in NJ are great. "Pushy" is the word I would use (if I had to generalize).
