My letter to the editor on the New Deal appears in today's Watertown Daily Times.
Also, there was a nice piece in yesterday's Washington Post following up on the role of the ferry boats in the rescue of US Airways 1549.
And now I'm off to the first day of class, my intro section specifically, where I will introduce myself and promptly ask if they think anyone knows how to make a #2 pencil. Happy 50th birthday to one of the great pieces of economics pedagogy ever. And thank you Leonard Read for that and everything else you did to keep the flame of good economics and of liberty alive in some very dark years.
No holiday for college professors?!

To those who asked: no, we don't get today off. Nor do we get Labor Day off. Nor Columbus Day. Nor Presidents Day.
Us North Country folk are tough and hard-working. We also don't give a crap about Federal holidays!
