This blog has been hosting a "debate" of sorts lately about the very meaning of Austrian economics and also the direction of future research in Austrian economics. In my opinion, some smart things have been said, some dumb things have been said -- as is standard for internet discussions. Tony Evans, another of the up-and-coming generation of young Austrians trained at GMU (though fast establishing his own independent line of research and teaching that befits the sort of creative and intelligent individuals that I've been lucky enough to work with here at GMU) sums up the issues very nicely and wisely -- (thus the reference to Ludwig Lachmann). Tony currently sits in the seat of J. B. Say at the European School of Management (the school Say founded as the first school of commerce in Europe).
