While I was in Chicago, I heard the sad news that William Breit had passed away. Bill was simply a wonderful man and thoughtful scholar of economics.

Very sad news.
He was a true gentleman and a true scholar. Several times, we rode the Crescent together to or from the Southerns(back when it was a first class operation under the Southern Railway, not Amtrak).

I agree with Jerry that he was a true gentleman and a true scholar, a great guy and a seriously broad intellect. He will be missed.
