I can only speak for NY, but it looks like Paterson is doing a good job trying to slim down the budget, fighting against the assembly and congress to do so. The SUNY system is going to take some big cuts too, much to the consternation of the Faculty-student associations. Surprisingly though, the student governments are supporting the cuts.
